River's Edge Gallery Art Classes

Sustainably Sadie
River’s Edge Gallery Art Classes

I write this article a little bit selfishly…but I suppose that most of my writing is derived from my selfish desires.  I want to encourage those in our local community to check out the art classes offered at the River’s Edge Gallery in Twin Bridges this fall.  This past Saturday was an oil painting class using the Bob Ross Technique.  There is a Watercolor Workshop the weekend of Sept. 28 and Jewelry Camp! Friday October 19 and Saturday October 20th.

The selfish part—I need people to sign up for the Jewelry making class because I desperately want to take this workshop that focuses on bead and wire wrapping jewelry.  Classes have been cancelled if not enough people sign up—which makes sense, the instructors (who are offering incredible rates for these opportunities) need so many bodies in the room to make it worth their time.  Our daughter, Eva and I took one of Ruby Montie’s classes in the past at the Gallery and it was not only a wonderful bonding experience for daughter and I but we also learned a lot.  Those new talents can be transformed into beautiful handmade creations that you can wear or gift to friends and family.

The cost of the jewelry making workshop is only $40 for six hours of instruction—split into 3 hours Friday afternoon and 3 hours Saturday morning.  The Watercolor Workshop, taught by Joanne Simpson of Polson, is $125 for all three days of instruction, 9 am to 4 pm, or $50 per day if you aren’t able to attend all three days.   These are incredibly affordable experiences and we, as a community, are so lucky to have these opportunities.

The River’s Edge Gallery is open through the month of September, Tuesday through Saturday and by appointment.  Contact Therese Hutchinson of the Main Street Market at riversedgegallery@hotmail.com or call 406-684-5111 with questions.  It’s not too late (or early) to shop the Gallery for gifts (think Christmas).  There is a little bit of everything and lots of affordable items from Montana artists.  Check out the River’s Edge Gallery Facebook page.
