TBCA Fall Festival

Sustainably Sadie
TBCA Fall Festival
Friday October 5th, 5-8 pm

If it weren’t for the smoke, this would be the most amazing Indian summer.  The weather has been so warm; the fall colors are just starting to come on as we officially enter into Autumn.  Facebook is filled with pics of friends attending football games.  The presidential election isn’t the only rivalry causing a stir on cyber space…the Cat/ Griz game is November 17 this year.

Whether its hunting, hiking, fishing or chasing after kids in sports, there is another great way to take part in Autumnal activities—attend the Twin Bridges Community Association’s Fall Festival Friday October 5th, 5 to 8 pm at the Ruby Valley National Bank parking lot in Twin Bridges.  Tailgate with the family prior to the Twin Bridges-Shields Valley football game or Sheridan’s Homecoming game vs. Ennis with brats, hot dogs and beverages.   Twin Bridges Lady Falcons and Sheridan Lady Panthers also have Home Volleyball games that evening…in between supporting the athletes, stop by the Fall Festival for family fun!

There will be a Fall backdrop perfect for family photos.  The Twin Bridges Community Association is the hard-working group that decorates the town for Fall and Christmas.  They organize the filling of the planter-benches on Main Street.  They also put on the BBQ at Floating Flotillas and Fish Fantasies.  There are many more wonderful contributions this organization offers the community; show your continued support by stopping by the Fall Festival.

Apple bobbing, pumpkin decorating and face painting are among the other family friendly activities planned for that glorious day in Twin Bridges.  Last year, kids got to throw pie in the superintendent’s face.  The school also participated in the scare crow contest that was held last year.  This event in the past has been referred to as “Polka in the Park.”  So plan on some Polka and a few other surprises!  Show your support; join in the fun!  Help sustain your local community!

If you’d like to learn more about the TBCA or the Fall Festival, stop by the next TBCA meeting, held at The Shack, 8:30 am Friday September 28.

Harvest continues!  While the Sheridan Farmer’s Market on Main Street has ended for the season, Jacksons Garden is still offering local produce throughout the fall.  Fresh Local Farm Produce at Jackson’s Garden on Tuesdays from 4-6:00pm.  Jacksons Garden is located 2 miles east of Sheridan on Mill Creek Road.  Tomatoes, Carrots, Beets, Onions, Potatoes, Squash and more.

Stop by the Twin Bridges Farmer’s Market Saturday Sept. 29 for the final day of this event.

Kelly Downing will be teaching a 5-week long Mixed Media Art Adult Ed Course at the TB School.  The first class will be Tuesday Oct. 16th, 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm.  The course costs $20 and class size is limited to 12.  Contact the TB school with questions.

Montana poet, Mark Gibbons, (gibbonspoetry.com) is coming to the TB School and will give a public reading Thursday October 11 @ 2:30 pm.

The next meeting of the Greater Ruby Valley Chamber of Commerce and Agriculture will be the Noon hour at the Wagon Wheel restaurant in Twin Bridges, Wednesday October 3.  Monthly Chamber meetings will be held on Wednesday (not Tuesday) for the rest of 2012.  Please post a comment to the GRVCCA Facebook page if you plan to attend the October meeting so that the proper arrangements can be made with the restaurant.

The GRVCCA Annual Ag Banquet, honoring our agriculture community and heritage, is Sat. Oct 27 at the Twin Bridges Airport.  Besides an amazing meal, events consist of a presentation by Professor Dennis Cash of MSU whose research interests include Forage Crop Production and Harvest Strategies for Pasture/ Hay Crops and music by Trent Brooks (“a solid mixture of Southern Rock and Outlaw Country”) of Great Falls.  Chris Noon is the contact person for this event, rkymtnsly@3rivers.net.  The GRVCCA is still in need of Table Sponsors for this event.
Chris Noon is also the contact person for the Man Tracking class in Yellowstone, October 20th.
