Technology Product Recycling

Sustainably Sadie
Electronic Recycling

Thanks to reader, Deb McNeil, for suggesting this week’s topic!  And it is a very helpful hint for sustaining the environment.  Deb was told by an employee of Butte’s Staples store that Staples is accepting office technology products for recycling at no cost.

Out of date/ broken electronics like monitors, computers, printers, cell phones and batteries should not be placed in the landfill.  To properly recycle these items can often cost a responsible person $10 or more.  Take advantage of this opportunity to properly dispose of unwanted tech products at no cost to you except for throwing them in the car when you head to Butte.  Maybe this article will spark some co-oping and through a little bit of coordination, maybe families can find collaborate to make multiple donations in one trip??

There are some stipulations…only 6 items per day per customer.  It doesn’t matter what brand the products are or where you purchased them, Staples will accept the electronics for donation.  Printers, scanners, fax, and laptops are also accepted.  Stop by when Staples is open; check out Staples.com to find out more information on their recycling program and other eco-services.  So gather up your batteries, even rechargeables, and computer pieces parts and old cell phones and have them disposed of properly.  It is a wonderful opportunity and an easy way to take care of the planet!

Please feel free to share your suggestions and sustainable successes – I would be honored to include your ideas in this on-going conversation regarding sustainability.  Post comments at www.sustainablysadie.blogspot.com or email sustainablysadie@hotmail.com.  Thanks for reading!
